Retrospective

Retrospective

Retrospective is an original play combining live performance and virtual reality.

SYNOPSIS // In the near future, memories can be downloaded and replayed again and again. Famous painter Calvin Brody Sr. struggles with a fading memory as his son and daughter work to preserve his past and repair their fragmented family. Both a gallery tour of Brody's artwork and a journey through his recollections, Retrospective explores mixed-reality technology, generational trauma and the unreliability of memory.

The experience is immersive and site-specific, leading the audience through the various rooms of a house, as they encounter live scenes interspersed with virtual-reality memory viewings, as well as hidden details and artifacts to discover.

The play premiered in Portland, OR in 2017, produced by Co.Reality and directed by Matt Ross.
